Forms of hoarding

The discoveries during the digs at the Nuragic sanctuary of S’Arcu ‘e is Forros (fig. 1), that can be dated between the end of the Final Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age, have allowed us to imagine the site as a centre for the collection of precious goods and consumables under the form of sacred offers, as a place for the accumulation of items that were still integral and broken for further resmelting, hoarding and management of riches, as a rich collection of votive items, closely linked to continuous commercial trade with Etruria and the East.

The set of information acquired from the finding of the various storerooms (fig. 2), comprising groups of metal items hidden specifically in the huts (fig. 3), are accumulations of metal that bring us to presume a strong union of native and foreigners in the technological, political and religious fields.

An image therefore emerges of a flourishing religious complex, built on a well-organised socio-economic organisation model that can manage the important circulating resources, the variety of specialised craftsmen activities, and the sizeable workforce needed to build and keep the structures identified so far in the digs (insulae, areas of worship, etc).
