Stone hammers
Several examples of stone hammers made mainly from long pebbles brought from the river below were found inside a hut near the megaron 1 temple (fig. 1). They were mainly used to crush minerals (fig. 2).
Insula 1 also produced stone hammers from the Nuragic Age (8th century B.C.), of various forms (fig. 3), that were used by craftsmen to break up lumps of lead also found on site. For example, the ones found in the kilns in room 15 have elaborate handles (fig. 4).
