Tomb no. 285

Tomb 285, belonging to the necropolis called ‘parking area’ (figs. 1-2), is a rectangular funeral moment in the western part of the complex. Ceramics that accompanied bodies are a useful example to understand, together with some classic types of Phoenician ceramics that were still used in the early Carthage era, the presence of Greek ceramics produced in the Athens area. They were present for more than two centuries, with variable historical developments, in the Punic world:  In ancient times via the Etruscans and later via a direct relationship between the Carthage world and the famous Greek city. In this phase, and tomb 285 is an example of this, Athens ceramics from the Late Antiquity era, with black figures (fig. 3) were widespread, together with black-painted ceramics of similar origin, that can be dated between 510 and 460 B.C. circa.
