The territory of Arzachena during the Phoenician-Punic Age

The evidence from the Phoenician-Punic Age in the territory of Arzachena is associated with attendance at the tomb of the Moru Giants during the Punic Age (fig. 1), located not far from Nuraghe Albucciu.

Here a Punic stele was discovered engraved with an alphabet sign, a dhalet, corresponding to the fourth letter of the Punic alphabet, also found in the Tophet of Sant'Antioco (fig. 2) and symbolically linked to the goddess Tanit.

At the entrance to the tomb there was also a Punic coin, with the head of the goddess Tanit and a horse protome (fig. 3), dated between 300 and 264 B.C.
