Bronze statue of an offerer

A votive bronze comes from one of the buildings, during the Iron Age, in the space between the bastion and the bulwark (room XX). It shows the front image of someone making an offer (height 9cm), standing on a rectangular pedestal, missing his upper limbs. It is hypothesised that the right hand of the statue was raised in salute, while the left was held out with an offer to the gods. The figure is only dressed with a skirt around his waist, decorated with vertical lines. The head is framed by plaited hair, with a ponytail hanging over the left shoulder. The face includes a joined eyebrow arch, almond-shaped eyes, a pyramid shaped nose and the mouth shown with a slight incision. It dates back to between the 9th and the 8th century B.C. It is currently on show at the National Archaeological Museum of Cagliari (figs. 1, 2, 3, 4).
