Pear-shaped vase with false drainer (Fontana Lumarzu - Bonorva)
A votive miniature vase was found at Fontana Lumarzu, in Rebeccu a Bonorva (fig. 1), uncovered at the beginning of the 20th century and dated between the Late Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age, (fig. 2).
The finding, 7 cm high, shows a rotund body, almost cylindrical neck, not clearly distinguished from the body, with a flared rim and two double vertical handles counterposed with horizontal holes for suspension, a false central pourer and a flat bottom.
Based on comparisons with similar examples found in S. Anastasia di Sardara and Genna Maria di Villanovaforru (figs. 3-8), the timescale of the item dates to the Early Iron Age (9th-8th century B.C.).
