The Compartiment de Sardenya is a document written in Catalan language, which dates back to 1358 and is still preserved in the Archives of the Crown of Aragon in Barcelona.

A copy was made of the pages of the document concerning Gallura, which is currently preserved in the State Archives of Cagliari (fig. 1).

This is a survey of the rents paid by all the villages owned by the Crown of Aragon in Sardinia at the time of its drafting, in order to understand the ability to pay of all the Sardinian holdings. The drafting of the document was ordered by Peter IV the Ceremonious (fig. 2).

Ramon de Vilanova, in charge of compiling the register, used previous Pisan inventories as his sources, containing the list of villages with the related income tax levied by the Tuscan city in the Island. In addition, for the district of Gallura, the writer used the figures recorded by a notary in 1324.

The Compartiment represents a major source for reconstructing the history of Gallura during the fourteenth century and was published in 1856 by Próspero de Bofarull y Mascaro in the eleventh volume of the Colección de Documentos Ineditos (CODOIN), together with the documentation concerning the kingdoms of Mallorca and Valencia, with the more comprehensive title of Repartimientos de los Reinos de Mallorca, Valencia y Cerdeña (fig. 3).
