The territory of Sardara in Pre-nuraghic Age

The territory of Sardara is rich in archaeological evidence documenting human presence from very ancient times, as may be shown by the findings in the alluvial deposits at Nuraxi Arrigau of stone products which can be dated to the Lower Palaeolithic (450,000 to 120,000 years ago).

From Pranu Sisinni come, instead, Late Neolithic materials, related to the Ozieri Culture, which consist in particular of a large amount of obsidian and pottery fragments, dating from the late fourth millennium B.C. (figs. 1-2-3).

In all likelihood these are artefacts from a Pre-Nuraghic village, identified thanks to the presence on the ground of segments of curved walls referring to small circular constructions with stone plinths.

The Copper Age (2800-1800 B.C.) is documented in sites which were also active during the subsequent Nuraghic period, such as the villages of Canal'e Linu, nuraghe Columbus and near the Nuraxi Arrigau.

No traces concerning the Bell Beaker Culture have been found, while the burial remains of the Domus de Janas of Pedralba testify to the various stages of the Bonnannaro Culture.
