Landing of Santa Lucia

The landing of Santa Lucia is located south of the Port of Posada (fig. 1). It is mentioned in the ancient sources as the archbishop of Pisa, Federico Visconti, landed here in 1263 on the occasion of his pastoral visit to Sardinia. It seems, therefore, that during the thirteenth century, the port of Saint Lucia was a reference point among the port facilities of lower Gallura. The landing must have stood near the tower (fig. 2) and the church named after Saint Lucia (fig. 3), which are still visible in the same name location in Siniscola. Today’s church was built in the late nineteenth century in place of the older one, which was demolished because of its totally neglected condition.
