Small Lithic hatchets (Li Muri)
The small hatchets in hard stone from the necropolis of Li Muri are miniature pendants made by carefully polishing the surface of the hard stone (figs. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).
They differ in size and colour. Their main shapes are trapezoidal and triangular.
Because of the small size and the elegance of their workmanship, they should be considered ritual or votive objects, with an apotropaic value, i.e. amulets to protect the deceased.
They are widespread both in Sardinia and outside the island.
The lithic hatchets found in the necropolis of Li Muri are kept at the National Archaeological Museum of Cagliari.
