The external side walls

Thanks to the purity of the architectural forms, the church of San Nicola di Trullas is one of the most interesting Romanesque buildings in Sardinia. It has a single nave, that is shaped by the two cubes, on which the apse stands to the east (fig. 1).

The external side walls are divided into two by a wide pilaster that is almost as wide as the corner one and a small, long narrow single-light window can be found in each part (fig. 2)

In the southern part, the single-light windows have a sill and a shaped cornice (fig. 3) and the southeast single-light window is interesting, with a geometric bas-relief over it (fig. 4). Only the single-light window close to the apse has a cornice on the northern side.
