Finds

Clay-bricks

Several simple tiles and roof tiles have been found inside the courtyard and the rooms located around the Palace of Baldu (fig. 1). Due to the collapse of the elevations of the seventeen rooms and of the tower in some cases, such as in the kappa (κ) room, it has been possible to locate the roof which covered them, almost completely.

A furnace was identified not far from the church of Santo Stefano (fig. 2): various types of waste have been found around this production area, particularly relating to bricks, roof tiles and tiles deformed during firing (fig. 3), which have allowed the hypothesis that the bricks used in the rooms and in the tower had been manufactured locally.

The artefacts, still being studied, in some cases show inscriptions (fig. 4b), symbols and in one case the imprint of a pet (fig. 4a) on their surface.
